Bertha Abbie Edwards, age 99, a resident of Morton, MS, passed away on July 31, 2014 of natural causes at the MS Care Center in Morton. Funeral Services will be held Monday August 4, 2014 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday August 3, 2014 from 2:00pm until 6:00 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home. Burial in Morton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Bertha Edwards was born in Morton, MS on February 18, 1915. She was the daughter of James and Bessie Robinson. Bertha attended Morton High School. She was a member of the FBC Church of Morton, and she was married to John Clarence Edwards in 1941.
She spent her working career in Dallas, TX with GC Murphy in retail management. Bertha also worked as a welder in the shipyards of Mobile, AL during WWI. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bowling, reading and fishing.
Mrs. Bertha Edwards was preceded in death by her parents James A. and Bessie “Gordon” Robinson and siblings, James M. Robinson, David N. Robinson, Jimmy D. Robinson, Mildred Robinson Champion and Emma Lee Robinson Weeks.
She was survived by her brother, Johnie Ray Robinson; her only child, James Wilson Edwards; 5 grandchildren, James Donavon Edwards, Johnnie Kyle Edwards, Alexander Corbin Gregg, Michael Eric Edwards and Joshua Cain Edwards; 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
