Coach Johnny Bishop, age 48, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his residence. Visitation was held 1-3pm Sunday, January 04, 2015 at Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie. Graveside service was held at 3:15pm at the church cemetery. Bro. Phil Evans and Bro. Randy Owen officiated the service. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.



Coach Bishop was born in Tupelo, MS on August 21, 1966. Making an impact on kids was his goal in life and he far exceeded that goal. Not only was he a teacher and coach, he was a mentor and leader to kids that looked up to him. Johnny was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church in Pelahatchie and letting God’s love shine to others was a big part of his life. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.



He is preceded in death by his brother, Donnie White; grandparents, Noah and Christine Presley and John Wesley and Clytee Bishop; uncles, Charles Bishop, Arnold Presley, Harold Ray Presley and Bobby Roberts; aunt, Mary Jo Schaffer.



He is survived by his wife, Donna Parker Bishop of Pelahatchie; children, Jordan Bishop and Caitlin Bishop of Pelahatchie; father, Douglas Bishop (Melba) of Tupelo; mother, Eva White (Oppie) of Pelahatchie; sisters, Charlotte White (Ryan) of Pelahatchie, Vicki Ferguson (David) of Oxford and Karen Helms of Houston, MS; brothers, Mark White (Alix) of Pelahatchie, Randy Griffin of Tupelo and Joey White (Katina) of Pelahatchie; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.



Pallbearers were Logan White, Chance White, Brady White, Danny Hicks, Anthony King, Selento Rhodes, Bo Garrett, Webb Means, Fletcher Trask, Colby Perkins, Christian Holmes, Jimmy Gentry and Landon Dunham. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Coach Bill Ward, Coach Jack French, every student that he ever taught, all football players and every athlete that he has ever coached.



Memorials may be made in his honor to Eastside Baptist Church, 1143 Noblin Bridge Road, Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
