Daniel Lee Owens, 30, died Friday, August 15, 2014. Visitation is 5:00-7:00PM Sunday, August 17th at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 1360 W. Government Street (Hwy 80) in Brandon. Services will be at 11:00AM Monday, August 18th at the funeral home with burial to follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens at 1106 Star Road, Brandon, MS.
Daniel was a Marine that served from 2003-2007 in Iraq and Okinawa, Japan. He grew up attending Crossgates Methodist Church in Brandon and most recently was a member of Restoration Church in Flowood, MS. Daniel enjoyed life to the fullest and had a fearless, free spirit. He was a fun-loving young man that enjoyed music and playing instruments. He was a graduate of Brandon High School where he was a member of the varsity golf team. In addition to golf, he loved all sports but most particularly hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. He was at his happiest spending time with family and his adorable daughter, Addison, who favors both his looks and his spirit.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ethel Dean Owens and Ronald and Libby Wright. Survivors include his daughter, Addison, age 4, his parents Gary and Ronna Owens, his sister Leslie Owens, his paternal grandfather Emmett H. Owens, Sr. and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
