Mr. Grady Norton, age 86, a resident of Morton passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in Jackson. His visitation was held 5-9pm Friday, July 18, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 1-2pm Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Springfield Baptist Church. Funeral service was held 2pm Saturday, July 19, 2014 at Springfield Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Bro. Tal Vardaman and Bro. Don Wilson officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mr. Norton was born in Lincoln County on June 1, 1928. He loved riding his golf cart and picking up cans. Grady loved to go out and eat catfish. He is the son of the late, Tommie Henry Norton and Missouria Cook Norton. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Christeen Bacon and brother, J.E. Norton.
He is survived by his spouse, Mrs. Von Dell Norton; 4 children, Jan Winstead and husband, Kendell of Morton, David Norton and wife, Kem of Georgia, Peggy Phillips and husband, Marty of Morton and Vickie Faulkner of Pearl; 3 sisters, Jessie Mae Means of Polkville, Loraine Payne of Brandon and Betty Jean Vanderford and husband, Rufus of Puckett; brother, Thomas Norton and wife, Gail of Puckett; 10 grandchildren, Michael Winstead (Amy), Nicholas Winstead, Stephanie Drake (Eric), Amanda DeLeon (Geo), Jessica Norton, Josh Norton, Michaela Phillips, Tyler Faulkner, Stephen Burek and Ashley Nelson (Rocky) ; 4 great grandchildren, Katelin Drake, Cole Drake, Ashley Winstead and Jason Keen; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Clinton Bacon, Johnny Means, Lester Bacon, Kenny Vanderford, Rudy Vanderford and Chad Norton.
Memorials may be made in his honor and memory to Springfield Baptist Church.
