Mary Annette Harmon, age 68, a lifelong resident of Forest, died Monday July1, 2013 surrounded by her loving family at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center following a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Wednesday July 3, 2013 from the chapel of the OTT & LEE Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Carr Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm-8pm Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 noon till service time at the funeral home.
Dr. Danny Dickerson officiated.
Mrs. Harmon was born in Smith County on November 3, 1944 to Milton Earl Goodson and Mary Allen Goodson. She had worked for the Sunbeam Corporation until it closed, then became employed by Hughes Aircraft and later Raytheon where she retired in 2002. She was a faithful member of the Leaf River Baptist Church, serving in many areas of Christian service. She enjoyed gospel singing, and genealogy. One of her most enjoyable pastimes were her grandchildren, as she always enjoyed spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Milton E. Goodson and a son Sidney Ferrell Harmon.
Survivors include her loving husband Leo Harmon, her mother; Mary Allen Carr, both of Forest, three daughters, Sheryl Thompson (Mark) of Louisville, Tanya Tanner (Tommy, II) of Decatur, Michelle Poole (Perry) of Forest; one sister, Doris M. Beech (Steve) of Newton. She also leaves behind a legacy of 9 grandchildren; Jonathan Thompson (Heather) Ryan Thompson, Joshua Thompson, David Thompson, Kody Tanner, Kalyn Tanner, Lee Poole, Mark Poole and Amber Poole.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Kody Tanner, Heath Swinson and Johnny Baucum, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were; David Thompson, Lee Poole and Mark Poole.
