Steve Ivey

Mr. F. Steve Ivey, 71, passed away Sat. Nov. 1, 2014 at the Nichols Center in Madison, MS. Visitation will be held on Mon. Nov. 3, 2014 from 6pm-7:30pm and on Tues. Nov. 4, 2014 from 9am-9:45am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Tues. Nov. 4, 2014 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Ivey was born in Atlanta, GA on Dec. 20, 1942 to Mr. Claude Wray and Kathleen May Ivey. He graduated from SW Dekalb High School in 1960 and attended GA State College focusing on management. Steve worked for the State of Georgia from 1961-1989 and then retired from Brook Run as the Assistant Superintendent in 1994. In 2004, he moved to Brandon, MS to be close to his daughter and 3 grandchildren. Mr. Ivey was a treasurer on the Central MS Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. His three greatest passions in his life were his family, german shepards, and tea roses. Mr. Ivey enjoyed tracing his family genealogy in which he traced back to 963AD during the Crusade Era. Mr. Ivey also wrote a book “The Ivey, May, Poole, and Kitchens Family History” which is in the Library of Congress in Washington, DC and the Family History Library-The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake, UT.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth Ivey; his daughter, Michelle Shaleen (Dewayne); his son, Michael Stephen Ivey (Pam); 4 grandchildren, Michael Stephen Ivey Jr., Dylan Wyatt Shaleen, Megan Alyssa Shaleen, and Devan Walker Shaleen; his brother, Claude Allen Ivey (Peggy), and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Ivey is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Claude Wray Ivey and Mrs. Kathleen May Ivey and 2 brothers, Ralph Frank Ivey and Rev. Charles Wray Ivey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of MS at 800 Avery Blvd. Suite 100 Ridgeland, MS 39157-5075 or the American Heart Association, MS Affiliate at P. O. Box 16808 Jackson, MS 39236.
