Walter Melvin Swanner, age 89, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be 10:00am Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Holland officiating.
Visitation will start at 9:00am at Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery, Wednesday, December 30, 2020 and end at 9:50am.
Walter was born in Jackson, MS on December 6, 1931 to the late Jessie Eugene Swanner and Ida Mae Roth Swanner.
He was a Christian, a true Patriot who bled Red, White and Blue for his Country. Walter spent 40 years serving his country in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He loved his garden and looked forward every year too working in it. He and Kay took in many stray dogs over the years. They allowed people to come pick blueberries every year and in the process made many friends and had many good conversations. Walter was a true Patriarch of his family, truly a wonderful provider. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Walter will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Walter is survived by his children, Cindy Paxton, Vanessa Johnson (David), Walter G. Swanner, and Scott Swanner (Sherra); grandchildren, Nicholas Paxton, Jessica Milner, Dumas Milner, Emma Swanner, and Trace Alan Swanner; great-grandson, Austin Paxton; a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and the love of his life, Kay Frances Swanner.
