Not only have we lost our dear Mother, but our Father has lost his wife of 68 years.
Ada Sue McCombs passed away on the morning of October 13, 2019, one day before her 88th birthday. Born October 14, 1931 to Rufus and Nannie Bea Goodrich she was one of nine children. She grew up in Tennessee and that is where she also met Ronald McCombs in the fall of 1951.
Meeting on a blind date it was “love at first sight” for Ronnie. After a brief courtship they were married on December 22, 1951.
Ada loved to quilt, crochet, and watch hummingbirds. We all take pride in our handmade quilts and crocheted “dish cloths” that she made for all of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She even made extra dish cloths and other crocheted items to sell at the Canton Flea Market.
Ada is survived by her husband, Ronald McCombs of Lake, Mississippi, and their four children, Patricia Barbee (Guy) of Madison, Dicky Vance (Gary) of Lake, Clint McCombs (Melissa) of Lake, and Melissa Harper (Steve) of Brandon. Other survivors are her four granddaughters, Tracey Langston (Glenn), Suzanne Harris (Kevin), Erica McGee (Josh), and Stephenia McGee (Jason).
Ada is also survived by her great grandchildren Ashley, Matthew, Mason, Carissa, Devin, Seth, Abbie, Will, Jadon, Levi, and Laney. Others include her brother, JC Goodrich of Texas, and her sister, Peggy Mullen of Oregon. There are also numerous nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.
Being a woman of faith, she inspired us and taught all of us how important family is. Knowing that we will see her again one day makes our loss easier to bear. We loved her so much and will miss her every day.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may also be made to the Hederman Cancer Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
