Alex Guthrie

Alfred Alexander “Alex” Guthrie, age 43, a lifelong resident of the Harperville community died Saturday, September 21, 2019.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10am Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at Cedar Grove United Methodist Cemetery in Smith County. Bro. Donnie McDaniel will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm Tuesday, September 24, 2019, at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Alex was born on  November 19, 1975, in Forest.  He was a member of Lorena Baptist Church.  He was a self-employed mechanic whose specialty was working on tractors and farm equipment.   He also loved the outdoors and hunting as well as fishing.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Otis Guthrie, and brother, Cody Daniel Guthrie.

Survivors include his mother, Theresa Berryhill (Terrell) of Raleigh,  step-mom Lura Guthrie of Harperville, 3 children; Chase Guthrie, Tanner Guthrie, and Makayla Guthrie all of Raleigh.  He is also survived by his 3 sisters; Christi Breedlove (Randall) of Raleigh, Karen Starr Martin (fiance’ John McGrew) of Morton,  Nicole Skinner (Mike) of  Byram,  1 brother; Terrell  Berryhill  (Jennifer) of  Eureka, SD.  He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
