Alfred Wayne Eure Sr. died at home just minutes into Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016 of respiratory failure. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 10:00 am from the Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Chapel in Morton, MS with Dr. Timothy Hubbard officiating the service. Visitation services will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2016 and again on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Interment will be following the service at the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Brandon, MS.
Mr. Eure was born February 16, 1938 in Hattiesburg, MS to Thomas and Rowena "Nixon" Eure. Wayne served a tour in the Marines after graduating Hattiesburg High School and he trained as a butcher and worked in the supermarket meat business for forty years. He loved to fish, and watching western movies and reading novels. He was very active in sports earlier in life where he played football, ran track, and also was a boxer in the Marine Corps. He loved working outside, helping the neighbors and had a little landscaping business on the side after retirement. The family shared that he had a crusty exterior but it hid a heart of gold. He was Baptist by faith and attended the Seminary Baptist Church, in Seminary, MS.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Rowena "Nixon" Eure; son, John Crayton Rousell; all of his siblings; sisters, Elsie Cannon and Margaret Cornelia Cody; brothers, T. J. Eure, Carl Eure; and two former wives, Rita Romero Eure and Connie Carmardelle.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Irene "Goodman" Eure (formerly Rousell); his daughters, Christine Roseberry(Russell) of Lafayette, LA; Teresa Kimball (Rodney) of Cotton Port, LA; Michelle O'Connor(John) of Lafayette, LA; Theresa Heingarten (Kevin) of New Orleans, LA; Marie Crews (John) of New Orleans, LA; Angela Rodrigue (Louis, Jr.) of Saint Amant; sons, Alfred Wayne Eure, Jr.; Kenneth Lee Eure; Michael Wayne Eure (Melissa); Thomas Wilson Eure; Scott Rousell (Tandy); twenty-six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Scott Rousell, Jeremy Roseberry, Travis James Richard, Adam Ellaham and Bobby Cody.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
