Alice Fitzhugh

March 27, 1925 — June 16, 2014

Alice Zellene Fitzhugh, age 89, a resident of Forest died Monday June 16, 2014 following an extended illness.

Funeral services were conducted at 10am Wednesday June 18, 2014 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with interment in the Ludlow Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5pm to 8pm Tuesday June 17, 2014. Rev. Chris Dupree officiated.

Mrs. Fitzhugh was born in Rankin County on March 27, 1925 to her parents Simp Parker Lampkin and Agnes Lee Fitzhugh. She had been a resident of Forest for 65 years. She and her late husband, Hubert Fitzhugh owned and operated a grocery store in Forest. She also was the local Carrier for the Clarion Ledger Newspaper and the Jackson Daily News. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Forest. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents and a son-in-law Paul Baker.

Survivors include her four children; Mary Elizabeth Baker of Brandon, Patsy Carr (Roy) of Franklin, NC, Peggy Henry (Robin) of Greenwood, MS, and Regina Harvey (Ricky) of Forest, two sisters; Trudi B. Shoemaker of Morton, Beatrice Fortenberry of Forest, one brother; Jimmy Lampkin of Morton. She also leaves behind a legacy of 7 grandchildren; Paula Baker, Stephen Baker, Brandon Baker all of Brandon and Tim Carr of Detroit, MI, Dena Stickford, Karen Carr and Nichole Henry all of Little Rock, AR.

Pallbearers were Ricky Fortenberry, Billy Fortenberry, Randy Shoemaker, Mark Lampkin, Stephen Baker and Steve Lampkin.

Funeral services were provided by Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest.
