Alice Christeen Purvis, age 94, a resident of Polkville passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton. Visitation was held 5-8pm Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 10am Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Polkville First Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Zach Kilpatrick and Bro. Tal Vardaman officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Purvis was born in Rankin County on March 2, 1921. She was Baptist faith and was a member of Polkville First Baptist Church. She loved gardening and working in her flowers. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Washington Bowman and Anna Lee Cruthers Bowman; spouse, Homer Lee Purvis; granddaughter, Tammy Renae Huff; 3 brothers, Walter, Johnny and L.T. Bowman and 2 sisters, Ina McMillian and Florence Bowman.
She is survived by daughter, Alice Huff and husband, Garland; son, Tommy Purvis and wife, Sherry; 3 grandchildren, Melanie Moak and husband, Chad, Robyn Carbery and husband, Joe, Paul Greer and wife, Kim; 12 great grandchildren; oldest great grandchild, Colbey and wife, Hayley; 1 great great grandson, Will; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Billy Bowman, Sammy Purvis, John Hamilton, Bobby Bradshaw, James Johnson and Lavon Purvis. Honorary pallbearers were Winsome Sunday School Class that she loved dearly.
Memorials may be made in her honor to the Polkville First Baptist Church Building Fund.
