Mrs. Alice Ruth Purvis, age 87 and a former resident of Polkville, MS went home to her eternal glory Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from the First Baptist Church of Polkville, MS at 2:00 pm with Rev. Zach Kilpatrick and Rev. Barron Price officating. Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 14,2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Ott and Lee Funeral in Morton. Interment was at the First Baptist Church Polkville Cemetery following the service.
Mrs. Alice Purvis was born to her parents Helton and Novis “Smith” Lee on December 23, 1927 in Polkville, MS where she resided most all of her life.
Mrs. Purvis was a very compassionate person towards her church, community, family and friends. She loved sewing, and loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildern. Mrs. Alice loved to cook and was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother; and she was dedicated to her Lord, church, family of faith and loved the Polkville community. She would help in every capacity that she could doing things in her church and community.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Helton and Novis “Smith” Lee; her husband, Lewis M. Purvis; and her brother Herman Lee.
She is survived by her son, Lavon Purvis (Marcia) of Polkville, MS; sister, Merle Foster; brothers, Ernest Lee, and Howard Lee; grandchildren, Mark Purvis (Rebecca) of Polkville, MS, Alicia Lundstrum (Jay) of Polkville, MS; great-grandchildren, Ryan Purvis, Blake Purvis, Cody Gatlin, and Caley Gatlin of Polkville, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Randy Lee, Ben Lee, Dan Beard, Randy Baugh, Paul Thompson, Jason Denson, and Steve Denson.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
