Allen C. Smith, 87, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.  Visitation will be 10am Thursday, December 22, 2011 until the 11am service in the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.  Interment will be in Old Brandon Cemetery.
  Mr. Smith was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran of WWII and was the owner and operator of Jack’s Hot Tamales where he was affectionately known as Mr. Jack. Allen was a member of Skyway Hills Baptist Church in Pearl. He was the greatest dad, papaw and brother. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Doris Smith; parents, Allen V. Smith and Lille Mauldin Smith; and two great grandchildren, Nikki Ross and Ryan Turnage.
Mr. Smith is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Measles (Larry) of Raymond and Wanda Tagert  (David) of Pearl; sister, Ann W. Sheppard of Madison; five grandchildren, Lorrie Turnage (Lee) of Mize, Charles Ross (Michelle) of Raymond, Nancy M. Walden (Bobby) of Tishomingo, MS, Jeff Tagert (Ashley) of Pearl, Justin Tagert of Pearl; six great grandchildren, Darren Ross (Jennifer), Jordan Ross, Ian Turnage, Michael Ross, Zach Tagert, Cameron Tagert and Brantley Tagert; one great-great grandson, Tommy Ross; and one nephew, Vard Wilson of Brandon.
