Allen Keith Gunn, 75, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Services are 3 pm Sunday, April 3, 2011 at Forest Baptist Church with burial in Cash Cemetery
in Scott County.
Mr. Gunn, a humble, Christian, family man was born June 6, 1935 in Lena, MS to Ottie Lee and Glover Gunn. He graduated with honors from Lena High School and was an All-State basketball player.
Mr. Gunn was a life long resident of Scott County and served his country for 2 years in the U. S. Army. He was associated with the poultry industry in Scott County for over 40 years and actively served on the Federal Land Bank for 30 years. Always a conservationist at heart, Mr. Gunn was honored as Outstanding Scott County SWCD Conservationist of the Year 2009.
He was a member of Forest Baptist Church for over 40 years where he had served on the Properties Committee and was an active member of the Joy Makers Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 54 years, Ruth Sessums Gunn; two daughters, Renea Hurdle and husband Jimmy of Forest and Becky Williams and husband Dean of Madison; five grandsons, Jason Hurdle, Justin Hurdle, Jon Marc Killebrew, Jacob Killebrew and Joseph Killebrew; one sister, Sara Ruth Hardin of Jackson and many nieces and nephews.
