Alma Smith

December 4, 1931 — June 24, 2017

Alma Edith Smith, 85, a resident of Brandon, MS passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Funeral services will be held 11 am Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS with interment in the Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton County. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and 10-11 am Wednesday 28, 2017 at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mrs. Smith was a native of Baltimore, Maryland. She was the daughter of C.C. Peters and Effie Mae Danner Peters. She was married to Kenneth H. Smith. Mrs. Smith worked in cosmetic sales over forty years before retiring and still maintained friendships with many customers. She was a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and enjoyed being with the ladies of her class. She was an avid reader of the newspaper and enjoyed crocheting for family and friends. She loved her family and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth H. Smith; daughter, Cathy Smith Nash; parents, C.C. Peters and Effie Mae Danner Peters; sister, Helen Raymond and her brother, Thomas Spinks.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Kenneth David (Pansy) Smith of Katy, TX, Thomas Harlan Smith, Sr. of Flowood, MS, Jeffery Neil (Beth) Smith of Fulshear, TX and Penney Smith Stokes of Brandon, MS; sister, Martha Purper of Harmons, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Tommy Smith, Jr., Joe B. Nash, Lora Smith, Tyler Smith, Nolan Smith, Mallory Stokes, Amanda Stokes and Troy Stokes; five great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
