Mrs. Alta Hales Sutterfield, age 95, a lifelong resident of Polkville, passed away on July 19, 2013 in Huntsville, Alabama. Visitation was held 9am-11am Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Polkville First Baptist Church. Funeral services were held 11am at the church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Scott Vaughn officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Mrs. Sutterfield was born in Smith County on August 17, 1917. She loved the Polkville community and had many dear friends there. Alta loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her spouse, Z.N. Norris; parents, Major Sidney Hales and Oretus Belle Phillips Hales; son, Bill Norris; sister, Gertrude Holbrook and an infant brother.
She is survived by son, Donald Norris Sr. and wife, Carol of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Shirley Norris; nephew, Harold Holbrook and wife, Mary; 3 grandchildren, Donald Norris Jr. (Wendy), Jonathan Norris (Amy) and April Sensing (Terry); 3 great grandchildren, Abbi Sensing, Jon-Robert Norris and Abby Norris and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Terry Sensing, Glenn Wiggins, Robert Miles, Jonathan Norris, Donald Norris Jr. and Lavon Purvis.
