Alvis B. "Buddy" Bailey

October 29, 1931 — March 17, 2016

Alvis “Buddy” Bailey, 84, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Manhattan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 5 until 8 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and again Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 1 until the 2 pm Service at Star Baptist Church in Star, MS. Burial will follow in Star Cemetery.

Mr. Buddy was born on October 29, 1931 in Tomnolen , MS to the late Charlie Kannedy and Georgia Carey Brown Bailey. He served in the U. S. Army in Iceland where he was a General’s driver. He married Emily Jewel Davenport on April 29, 1955. He retired as a bio-medical technician for St. Dominic/Jackson Memorial Hospital after 24 years of service.

Mr. Buddy was a former resident of Jackson, MS and was a member of Briarwood Drive Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and served on various committees. He moved to Brandon, MS in 1997and became a member of Star Baptist Church in 1998. Mr. Buddy loved his Church. He was an avid gardener and was known for his bountiful gardens.

Mr. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emily Bailey; three sisters, Ouida Peery, Malloy Reed and Tillie Bowman; and by his brother, Charles Bruce “Sonny” Bailey.

Survivors include two children, Suzanne Bailey and Ray Bailey both of Brandon, MS; four granddaughters, Kara, Karley, Kellie, and Kristen Bailey; two sisters, Charlene Dean of Magee, MS and Sue Keen of Brandon, MS; one brother, Tom Brown Bailey and wife, Maxie of Eupora, MS.
