Mr. A.M. (Marbo) Irby, age 87, a resident of Sandhill passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. Dominic Jackson Memorial Hospital. His visitation was held 5-8pm, Friday, November 1, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8:30am-10am Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral service was held 11am Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Leesburg Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jeff Jones and Rev. Joseph Oster officiated the services.

Mr. Irby was born on August 15, 1926 in Scott County. He was proud to have served in the US Army and retired after 20 years. Marbo was a member of the Pelahatchie Masonic Lodge #276 for many years. Mr. Irby was an avid outdoorsman. He loved working with his cows, fishing and hunting, cutting his grass, working in his garden and going to deer camp in Hurley. In his spare time he loved to read, watch MSU play football and watch westerns. One of his greatest joys was being a papaw and loving his family. The love of his life was his wife, Bettie Lou, who passed away on July 20, 2011. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Lou Crum Irby; parents, Amos Louis Irby and Letha Sumrall Irby and son, Arthur Louis “Buddy” Irby.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Watts (Jack) of Sandhill; daughter-in-law, Becky Irby; sisters, Estelle Boxx, Cleo McCollum, Lannie Kimble and Carolyn Boyd (George); brother, Marlon Irby (Shirley); 4 grandchildren, Stacy Trest (Rodney), Susan Irby, Sandra Shivers (Shannon) and David “Bo” Irby (Kerri); 4 great grandchildren, Taylor & Shelby Trest and Connor & Jack Shivers and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Bo Irby, Jerry Kimble, Steve McCollum, Shannon Shivers, Rodney Trest and Wayne Irby.

Memorials may be made to Leesburg Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
