Amy Elizabeth Nutt Smith is finally at peace with her LORD and Savior. She is survived by her two children, Hunter Adam Parker and Maggie Elizabeth Smith; father, George Nutt; mother Vivian Jackson; and her favorite sister, Rebecca Dew.
Amy, grew up in Morton and later returned to settle and make a home with her daughter, Maggie. She was a creative soul, who was talented at crafts and cooking. She would make family events special with her skills. The family is grateful to have many treasures lovingly handcrafted by her.
Amy worked at Mid-South Baking Company in Pelehatchie for several years, and made many great friends whom she treasured dearly. She was blessed to have worked with her friends there and was especially grateful at the generosity and care they bestowed on her as she became ill. The family is indebted to all the employees for the kindness they demonstrated.
Amy was actively involved with the Morton Panther Pride Band, which her daughter was a member. She truly enjoyed being able to watch them perform and helping in any way she could.
As the leukemia began to take over her body, Amy spent much time in drawing closer to the Lord. She was a source of strength for her family in how she maintained a positive attitude thoughout her ordeal. She left several journals of her prayers and devotion notes that will be treasured by the family.
Visitation was held 5pm-8pm, Monday, November 20, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 12pm-1pm Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will never forget the care and love from the staff of the 5th floor at the Baptist Hospital. They treated Amy with gentleness. They comforted her family and we are forever in debt to the entire staff.
