Anita Kay "Skeeter" Hanna

November 28, 1955 — February 2, 2025

Brandon

Beloved wife, mother, sister, and Nana, Anita Kay (Skeeter) Hanna passed away on February 2, 2025, in Flowood, Mississippi.

Born on November 28, 1955, to Guy Dee and Alice Rayner, Anita was a kind heart and an infectious spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Donald Hanna; her sons, William Rials (Kristen) and Chuck Hanna (Angie); and her cherished grandchildren: Brittney Layton, Keri Easly (Shane), Samantha Gentry (Will), Stacy Ford (Bennett), Angel Ford, Katelyn Mae Rials, Ambre Ford, Makaya Ford, Colton Hanna and Kiley Hanna. She was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren and her beloved fur babies, Honey and Lucey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons Tommy Michael Ford and an infant son, her sisters Diane Ashley and Pat Glenn, and her faithful lab, Jada Mae.

Anita had a successful career in the restaurant industry, gaining a loyal following as the owner of the long-standing Jackson Farmers’ Market Restaurant. After retiring, she devoted herself to being a full-time Nana, a role she embraced with pride and joy.

She was an avid gardener with a special gift for nurturing plants—her family lovingly called her a “plant whisperer.” Her yard was always immaculate, bursting with life and color. On Sundays, her passionate cheers for the New Orleans Saints could be heard for miles. She had an immense love for dogs.

Anita’s warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will celebrate her life in a private service. In lieu of flowers she wanted donations to be made in her memory to either St. Jude’s Children Home or Community Animal Rescue Adoption https://carams.org/donate/
