Ann Hollingsworth

On October 22, 2020, Ann Hollingsworth left the world the way she lived: with grace, style, and powerful resolve. Ann’s life was a testament to her indomitable spirit and enduring good humor. Whether facing being the oldest daughter tasked with caring for her younger siblings, raising her own children, or overcoming loss and adversity, Ann approached life with a fierceness and courageousness that inspired her family and anyone fortunate enough to know her. Always an impeccable hostess, Ann balanced strength and beauty, a model of graceful Southern hospitality who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, quell an argument, or lay down the law when the occasion required. Ann’s later years were spent doing what she loved best: spending time with her daughters, grand-daughters, and great- granddaughters, and serving as the comforter, arbiter, and matriarch of a long line of women she helped shape and inspire.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold Hollingsworth, sons Jimmy and Harold Jr., and her cherished granddaughter Jessica Gaylord.

Ann leaves behind two daughters, Peggy Overman and Joyce Hollingsworth, four granddaughters, Stacy Spann and Kayleigh Overman-Fassel, Cassie and Samantha Hollingsworth, as well as two grandsons, Matt and Ethan Hollingsworth. Her four great grandchildren, Ava and Scarlett Spann, as well as Eli and Owen Hollingsworth mourn the passing of their great grandmother and all the wisdom, joy, and fun she brought to their lives. Additionally, Ann is survived by her brother Bobby Johnson, his wife Frances, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Ann Hollingsworth’s life will be celebrated from 12pm – 1pm Friday, October 30, 2020  at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest, with interment to follow in the Sharon Primitive Baptist  Cemetery,  located on Old Hwy. 80 East near Lake, MS.
