Annie Mae Bennett, 88, a resident of Pearl, MS passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Jaquith Nursing Home in Whitfield, MS. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with the interment following at Rehobeth Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelahatchie, MS. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.
Mrs. Bennett was a native of Rankin County. She was the daughter of Taylor Allen and Mary Ethel Allen. Mrs. Bennett worked as an assembly line operator for General Motors for many years. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS. Her family will always remember her cornbread and sweet tea as their favorites. She always enjoyed sitting on her front porch drinking coffee and decorating for the Christmas season and even won Best Decorations of the Year. She loved her family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. Her grandchildren affectionately call her “Big Momma”. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by; daughter, Clara Jeanette Hughes; parents, Taylor Allen and Mary Ethel Allen; brothers, L.C. Allen, Jimmy Allen, Paul D Allen And Melvin Allen; sister Ella Rae Harris.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her children, Rayford McCullough, Matthew Wayne McCullough, Paula Ann Stewart, Walter Douglas McCullough and Cecil Harris and ; sisters, Lois Shoemaker, Kay Deason and Shirley McCright; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
