Arnette (Buck) Cumberland, 88, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010 at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon. Visitation will be 11am-1 pm Monday, May 10, 2010 with the service to follow at 1 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.
Arnette (Buck) was born in Neshoba County and after finishing high school in Neshoba County, he went into the army in 1942. After infantry training in the states, he was sent overseas and landed in France in 1944. Buck saw action in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and the Battle of the Bulge. He received the combat infantry badge and bronze star. After being discharged, he worked for 41 years for the Department of Transportation before retiring in 1986.
Arnette (Buck) was a Master Mason, Member of the Tyrian Lodge #427 of Brandon, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Wahabi Shrine of Jackson.
Survivors include his son, Bobby Cumberland of Brandon and special friend, Helen Reeves of Brandon. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
His wife, Frances; daughter, Sammie Anthony; his parents, 4 brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
