August 26 1938 - February 21 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Arnold Fincher Sr., who left this world peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on August 26, 1938, in Graham, Oklahoma, Arnold was a proud son of Father; Clyde Gerald Fincher, Step-mother (Hazel Savage Fincher), Mother; Iva Pearl Rozzell Stewart and step-father (Elvis Stewart) all of Oklahoma.
Arnold’s life was one marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a love for the outdoors. He was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy Anne Fincher, as well as three brothers, Junior, Garylon, and Lloyd, and two sisters, Wanda Dickerson and Myra Alexander; as well as sister in-laws, Dean and Rosie Fincher.
Arnold leaves behind his children: daughter Cindy Kay Chasteen, husband Dale of Inola, Oklahoma; son Aj Fincher Jr., wife Teresa of Braxton, Mississippi; and daughter Janet Bright, husband Mike of Rome, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother Bill Fincher of Wringling, Oklahoma and brother in-laws Charles Alexander and Clem Dickerson. As well as six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews; who adored him. Along with his beloved friend Kay Mullins and her sweet extended family.
A proud Vietnam veteran, Arnold served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. He went on to build a career in the oil field industry before transitioning to his true passion—water well drilling, where he founded his own company. Throughout his life, Arnold was also an avid sports fan, with a special love for the University of Oklahoma athletics—forever declaring, "Boomer Sooner."
Arnold’s time at Duncan High School was highlighted by his incredible athletic achievements, most notably his state record in The Mile Run with a time of 3:59:6. He later attended Oklahoma University on a track scholarship, cementing his legacy in both academics and athletics.
He lived a life grounded in the love of freedom, unity, and opportunity—values that he held dear as a proud American. He was a lover of the outdoors and an avid golfer, spending as much time as possible on the golf course.
Arnold will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the impact he made on his family, friends, and community. As he would often say, “I’m a Sooner born and a Sooner bred, and when I die I’ll be Sooner dead.” His spirit and love for life will be remembered forever. May he rest in peace.
