Arthur James Warren

Arthur James (Jim) Warren, Jr. Flowood, MS Arthur James (Jim) Warren, Jr., 92, passed away on January 12, 2015, at his home in Flowood, MS. Jim Warren was born August 30, 1922, in Meridian, MS. During World War II, he served as Captain in the United States Marine Corp flying 96 combat missions as a Corsair fighter pilot with VMFA-215 and VMFA-251 in the South Pacific and with VMFB-333 toward the close of the war. After his return home to MS, Jim married Elizabeth Boteler (Libba) and graduated from the University of Alabama with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. Jim and Libba moved to Jackson, MS, in 1949, raised four children, whom they loved, and stayed involved in their church and the community. Jim was owner/founder of several businesses: Capital Ice Company, Capital White Truck Company, Capital Truck Body Shop, and Carrollton Manufacturing Company. He was also a co-founder of Capital Body Shop. Jim was past president of the Jackson Optimist Club, past president of the MS Chapter of the Alabama Alumni Assn., and past director of Southern Christian Children’s Services. He also served as a former coach of Little League Baseball, Flying J swim team, and Shady Oaks swim team. He was an avid boater and saltwater fisherman. He was an active member and former deacon of First Christian Church (1950 to 2000). He later attended Pinelake Baptist Church and was blessed by the Christian fellowship with the “Truth Seekers Class.” He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Boteler Warren, daughter Terrie Warren Ainsworth; parents Thelma Loper Warren, Arthur James Warren, Sr., and brother William (Bill) Webb Warren. Survivors include: sons Arthur James (Jay) Warren III (Karen), Mark Randal Warren (Kathy), and daughter Lynn Warren Meany (David); 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law Jean S. Warren of Meridian, and Margaret T. Boteler of Laurel. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Hospice Ministries, Inc., Pam Polk, and especially Mary Brownbridge for their excellent care for Jim Warren and his family. Visitation will be from 9-11 A.M. Saturday at Pinelake Baptist Church, 6071 Hwy 25 Brandon, MS. Services will follow at 11:00 A.M. Jim will be laid to rest by his wife at 3 pm at Lake Park Cemetery in Laurel, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorials/donations may be made to Anza Imani Rescue Foundation, P.O. Box 910, Alabaster, AL 35007, or Southern Christian Children’s Services for Children and Youth, 860 East River Place Suite 104, Jackson, MS 39202.
