Aubry Matthew Cooper, age 86 passed away Thursday, February 16, 2017 at his residence in Morton, MS. Visitation was held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and again on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 9:00 am prior to the service time. Funeral service was held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 10:00 am from the Ott and Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Morton, with Bro. Tommy Miles officiating the service. Interment was held at the Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.
Aubry was born in Morton, MS to his parents, Troy M. and Ophelia Harrell Cooper on February 4, 1931. He was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church in Morton. Aubry loved hunting of every kind but he enjoyed fox hunting, deer hunting, and squirrel hunting. He loved spending time with Anna Caitlin, Cole, and his family. He loved animals especially his dogs. He loved spending time with his hunting buddies and friends. Aubry loved working for the county and he worked for over thirty years with the county.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Ophelia Cooper; nephew, Travis Cooper; niece, Kim Miles; brother-in-law, Ray Miles.
He is survived by his great-nephew Chris Cavanaugh and great-niece Rebecca Cavanaugh and their children Anna Caitlin Cavanaugh and Cole Cavanaugh of Morton; his brother, Dwight (Terri) Cooper of Ludlow; his sister, Nina Miles of Brandon; his niece, Mitzi (Jeff) Robertson; his great-nieces, Holly Cooper and Brandi Bounds; and many other family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Buford Palmer, Hersil Griffin, Steven Crotwell, Shot Riser, Lane Cooper, Mitch Pickett and honorary pallbearers were Hank Harvey, Truman Manning, Jimmie Lane Cooper, Jimmy Latham, Otis Henry, and Kendall Pigg.
Chris and Rebecca Cavanaugh would like to express a special thanks to the Sta-Home Hospice nurse Lydia Hall and aide Virginia Tucker; they were both a God send to us.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
