Funeral services for Mrs. Ava Darlene Maness will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, January 25, 2016 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with the Rev. Robert Johnson, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Smith County under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the funeral home and on Monday beginning at 10:00 am prior to the funeral service.
Ava Darlene Maness was born February 19, 1957 at Sylvarena in Smith County and passed away January 22, 2016 at her home at the age of 58.
She was a long time resident of the Forest area. She was a hard worker, but liked to be independent, and live a simple life. She was a member of Galilee Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed baking cakes, particularly bunt cakes.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Leavy and Nellie Rea Gregory and one sister: Judy Thayer.
Survivors include her children: Amelia Maness of Forest and Johnathan Maness of Carrollton, GA; four sisters: Ellen Hammons of Hillsboro; Michelle Fowler of Florida; Candance Anding of Mt. Olive; and Tina Fowler of New York; one brother: Glen Gregory of Sylvarena; her “other children:” Debresha Qualls of Forest; Shamandra Qualls Odom of Decatur; Vanesha Williams of Forest; and Damian Logan of Columbia; her grandchildren: Isaiah Nixon, Erian Patrick, Treshun Alexander, and Jacobi Braggs; one special cousin: Monica Coleman of Forest.
