Avanell White Sikes, a resident of Brandon, MS departed this life on August 10, 2021, at her home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held 4-7 pm Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday, August 13, 2021, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with burial in Hope Cemetery in Neshoba County, MS.

Mrs. Sikes was born in Neshoba County, MS, to Wallace Claiborne White and Ava Bobo White on April 10, 1941. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who loved her family and friends. Avanell had a career in banking. She was employed at Deposit Guaranty National Bank 21 years and Trustmark Bank 8 years. Avanell was active in the sport of pure-bred dogs. She was a breeder, owner and handler for over 35 years. She served on the Board of Directors, holding several different offices of the Mississippi State Kennel Club where she holds a lifetime membership. She served as treasurer of the Bichon Frise Club of America, Inc. for 10 years, president for 4 years and 2 years as Director. She holds a lifetime membership in BFCA. Avanell and George bred and showed over 40 champions.

Avanell was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Claiborne White and mother, Ava Bobo White.

She is survived by her husband, George Sikes; daughters, Donna Sikes Sanford and Lee Ann Sikes Weathersby (Danny) Purvis; 2 grandsons, Adam Sanford and Casey  (Erin) Sanford; 2 granddaughters, Hanna Weathersby and Sara Weathersby; 2 great grandchildren, Hayes Sanford and Tatum Sanford and several furry companions.
