Avis M. Westberry, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday, June 16, 2017, and starting at 10am Saturday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Services are 11am Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Mrs. Avis was born in Polkville, MS on September 1, 1925 and graduated Polkville High School. She attended University of Southern Mississippi and she retired from General Electric after 38 years of service. Avis was member of Flowood Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her niece, Vanaee Patrick (Tony)of Brandon; nephews, Franklin “Skip” Dubois (Darlene) of White Oak and Danny Dubois (Shane) of Rankin County; great nephew, James Robert Peden (Ashley) of Flowood, great niece Sonya Townsend (Rolando) of Calhoun City, great niece, Danielle Dubois of Rankin County and great nephew, Landon Dubois of Rankin County; she is also survived by 7 great-great nieces and nephews, Dakota and Brooks Peden, Cameron, Te’a, Bella, Jacob and Sean Townsend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dub Westberry; parents, Belton McCarty and Ruth Gibbons McCarty; brother, Buck McCarty and her sisters, Valena Dubois and Ruby Nell Palmer.
