Mrs. Axie (Sis) Phillipson, age 80, died May 21, 2010 at Hospice In His Hands in Madden. Visitation was held 5-9pm Saturday, May 22, 2010 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and resumed 8am – noon on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Phillipson lay in state from 1pm – 3pm at Branch Baptist Church on Sunday. Funeral service was held 3pm Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Branch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Bobo Phillipson officiated the services.
Mrs. Phillipson was born in Rankin County and had been a resident of Scott County for 56 years. She can be remembered by the Forkville community for her Upholstery Shop she had there for many years. Mrs. Axie loved to sit on a pond bank and fish and loved to ride horses. But what she looked forward to the most was her family and friends to come to her house on Sunday and eat lunch. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Preceded in death by her husband, Claude Dee Phillipson; parents, Walter Griffin Harrell and Axie Florence Torrence Harrell; brothers, X.O. Harrell (her twin), Buddy Harrell and Wes Harrell; sisters, Ola Thompson and Grace Thompson; great niece, Glenda Ann Phillipson; nephew, Terry Phillipson.
She is survived by 5 children; 3 sons, Larry Lynn Phillipson (Ginger) of Noxapater, Gary Glenn Phillipson (Linda) of Lena, Jerry D. Phillipson of Morton; 2 daughters, Nelda Kay Renfrow (John) of Ludlow and Pamela Joyce Williams of Morton; 3 brothers, Claude Harrell of Leesburg, Jack Harrell (Louise) of Morton and Lois Griffin Harrell (June) of Morton; 19 grandchildren, Michelle Phillipson Tuggle (Kris), Jeffrey Phillipson, robby Phillipson (Carly Baker), Connor Phillipson, James Gully, Sam Gully, Chris Beeman (Brandi), Jennifer Beemon Alexander, Jona Phillipson Selph (David), Ray Phillipson (Lindsey), Tonya Renfrow Hollis (Jay), Jonathan Renfrow (Cassie), Tony Gomez (Dana), Kim Gomez, Mike Williams, Mandy McDade, Randy Paul Phillipson, Timothy Paul Phillipson and Glenda Ann Phillipson (deceased); 18 great grandchildren, Brittany Dawn Freeny, Leigha Lagwin McCallum, Shelby France McCallum, Gavin Joseph Phillipson, Christopher Shawn Beemon, Lauren Ann Beemon, R’eanne Faith Beemon, Addis McKenzie Alexander, Haley Brooke Alexander, Nathan Josiah Selph, Marshall Tate Selph, Claudia Kate Selph, Kaylyn Grace Fowler, Jayden Cain Hollis, Raven Autumn Dalton, Lokie Ash Dalton, Dylan Dakota Gomez and Dayton Ray Gomez, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Jeffery Phillipson, Robby Phillipson, David Selph, Jonathan Renfrow, Ray Phillipson, Tony Gomez, James Michael Williams and Connor Phillipson. Honorary pallbearers were Michelle Tuggle, Jona Selph, Kim Gomez and Tonya Hollis.
