Mrs. Barbara Cooper, age 74, a resident of Morton passed away Friday, October 15, 2010 at Ms. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation was held 3-8pm Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral Services were held 3pm Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Springfield Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Don Wilson and Dr. Scott Thomas officiated the services. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cooper is a native of Pinkstaff, Illinois and has lived in the Morton area for 56 years. She loved crocheting, reading and working in the yard with her flowers. Barbara was a faithful volunteer at the We Care Mission in Morton where her warm smile and loving heart will be greatly missed by the people she worked with and the families that she served. Her presence will be greatly missed at Cooper Farms, where she loved to help her family do what ever was needed. Barbara’s memory will always be a part of Morton Schools where she greeted children everyday for 14 years as they came through the lunch line and as she drove the children to and from school on the bus safely each day. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Cooper was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Lee Cooper; parents, Charles Joseph Cummins and Elinore Treca Crouch Cummins and brothers, Dick Cummins, Bob Cummins and Dorian Cummins.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by her 2 sons, Tim Cooper (Vivian) and Ricky Cooper (Mary) both of Morton; sister, Donna Wallingford of Spokane, WA; 2 grandchildren, Miranda Chavis (Josh) of Pearl and Brittany Cooper of Morton; 1 great grandchild, Kaitlyn Chavis, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Buford Palmer, Truman Manning, Dr. Kevin Cooper, Lacey Harvey, Sammy Benton and Rodney Cummins.
