Barbara Landry

Barbara Birdwell Landry, 80, passed away at her home on October 1, 2020, in Brandon, MS. Barbara was born on November 8, 1939, in Shreveport, LA to Maurice J. and Gladys Winn Birdwell. After graduating from Haynesville High School, she attended Louisiana Tech, where she met and fell in love with Leo Landry. In 1961, she graduated from Louisiana Tech and married Leo on August 19th of that same year. They celebrated 59 wonderful years of marriage this year. She taught school in Baton Rouge, LA and Vidalia, LA before moving to Brandon, MS in 1969. Throughout her life she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, to Leo, her two children, and seven grandchildren. She dedicated time to her children’s activities, the family business, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Brandon First United Methodist church choir, and her bridge clubs. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with Leo and spending time with her grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice J. and Gladys Winn Birdwell. She is survived by her loving husband, Leo T. Landry, Jr; a son, Tommy (Kim) Landry; a daughter Ginger (Sal) Lee; one brother, Maurice (Lillian) Birdwell; a sister-in-law, Frances Landry Nosser; and seven grandchildren, Lexi Landry, Alli Landry, Layton Landry, Landry Lee, Livi Lee, Sophie Lee, and Sam Lee. She is also survived by a host of nephews, nieces, and great-nieces and nephews.

On Sunday, October 4th, a visitation and memorial service will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm, memorial service to follow at 6:00pm.
