Barbara Watson

August 8, 1941 — April 25, 2017


Barbara Kate Watson, a child of God, daughter, wife, mother, and friend entered the nearer presence of God on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Clinton Lum (Cricket) and Fannie Kate Lum as well as her husband, Glen Edward Watson.

Born in 1941, Barbara was a life-long resident of Morton and the surrounding area. She graduated from Morton High School in 1959, and continued her education by earning a cosmetology license. Following beauty school, Barbara spent the next years opening her own beauty shops. For many years, Barbara took wonderful care of her customers’ needs not only by styling their hair but more importantly, she provided a listening ear and many kindnesses.

Working with people, provided great joy and fulfillment to Barbara. Through the years, she was very committed and involved in church and mission activities. Barbara received abundant joy by ministering to others while sharing the love of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Additionally, whenever there was a need in the community, folks knew they could count on Barbara to prepare and deliver a delicious meal as well as sweet words of faith and encouragement.

Barbara is survived by five children: Glenda Natale, Craig Watson, Sherrie Watson, Steve Watson, (Maret), and Kenya Talley. She was blessed to be called “Nana” by her six precious grandsons: Chris Natale (Maryanne), Nathaniel Talley, Joseph Talley, Zack Watson, Conner Watson, and Jon-Sanders Watson as well as one great grandson, Gabriel Glen Natale. Barbara is also survived by aunts, uncles and numerous cousins whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm Saturday, April 29, 2017 from the East Morton Baptist Church with interment to follow at Morton Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be held from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm Friday, April 28, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
