Basil Morace Huff, 95, passed away on Sat. Aug. 24, 2024 in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Mon. Aug. 26, 2024 from 5pm-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10am on Tues. Aug. 27, 2024 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.

Mr. Huff was born on Dec. 6, 1928 in Rankin County, MS to the late James Basil Huff and Bessie Virginia Till Huff. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Morace’s greatest love was his family. He enjoyed regular family gatherings and would often drop by to the homes of his children, grandchildren, and great grands, usually bearing fruit for the little ones. He was full of stories from his past. He enjoyed driving daily to have coffee with his friends and loved to reminisce through the roads of Rankin County. Morace enjoyed traveling in his motor home, initially with his wife and later with various children and grandchildren. He previously loved riding his motorcycle. He attended army reunions for as long as his fellow servicemen were able to gather.

Morace was a great businessman. He had numerous businesses over his lifetime, but his last focus was as owner and contractor of A-1 Roofing and also All Purpose Mini Storage. His education was minimum, but his wisdom was great. Morace was a faithful Christian. He enjoyed visiting friends and church members in hospitals and nursing homes. Prior to getting sick, Morace served in the way his aging body allowed by being in church and serving on the Pastor’s Shepherding Ministry Team until his final days.

As Morace began needing assistance at home, he was blessed with a precious person to care for him and run errands for him. Wendy Tate was very special to him and the family will be forever grateful to her. Morace left this earth peacefully into the arms of the Lord surrounded by his three children, Bobby, Debbie and Lavon.

He is survived by his three children, Bobby Charles Huff (Vickie), Debbie Purvis Walker (Jeff) and Morace Lavon Huff (Cyndi); seven grandchildren, Chris Huff (Lee), Jon Huff (Jamie), Zach Purvis (Lindsey), Kelsey Sims (Austin), Shannon Huff (Mary Catherine), Shelby Alef (Riley) and Avery Huff; ten great grandchildren, Greyson Huff, Brady Huff, Stella Huff, Henry Huff, Harper Huff, Peyton Purvis, Mitchell Sims, Ella King, Eli King and Easton King; sister in law, Helen Huff and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Huff is also preceded in death by his wife, Janice James Huff; son-in-law, Schley Purvis; four sisters, Bertie Beatrice Berg, Ora Nell Underwood, Ivy Dell Payne, Eva Ray Hegwood and four brothers, Luther Huff, James “Jack” Huff, William Horace Huff and Jack Wiley “J.W.” Huff.
