Belinda Smith

Mrs. Belinda Smith, age 64, and a very happy resident of the MS Care Center of Morton, passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021.

She was born on May 3, 1957 in Columbia, Mississippi and grew up in the Pine Grove community in rural Marion County where she attended the Pine Grove Pentecostal Church. She attended school at West Marion in Foxworth. She was a proud mother and grand-mother and her life revolved around her family.

Early in 2018 she moved to Polkville, MS, where she was cared for by her brother, Barron Price and his family. She looked forward to and greatly enjoyed the church services at both Polkville and Morton United Pentecostal Churches and her times of interaction with the members of each. In August, 2019 she became a resident of Morton’s MS Care Center where she thrived with the constant activities, social interactions and the care provided by the devoted and committed staff. She fondly gave nicknames to her care givers, and most of them returned the favor. She was never at a loss of having a story to tell to anyone who’d listen and will be greatly missed in the activities and routines of the MS Care Center.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Dunaway Price, and a brother, Berell Price. She is survived by her daughter, Tanya Burrell, five grandchildren: Caylie Thompson, Brendan Lee, Xavier Thompson, Mercedes Preston, and Te’Gann Jackson; and one great-grandchild, Jamarious Smith, Jr.; her father, Dale Price; brothers Bruce (Carolyn) Price and Barron (Beverly) Price; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will have a Memorial Service at a later date.
