Ben Guthrie Stewart, age 78, a lifelong resident of Forest passed away Saturday January 22, 2011 at the Mississippi Care Center in Morton, Ms., following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Tuesday January 25, 2011 from the Ott & Lee Chapel of Forest with interment in the Antioch-Steele Cemetery. Rev. Don Savell and Rev. Bobby Warren will officiate the services.
Mr. Stewart was born in Scott County on February 13, 1932 to George L. Stewart, Sr and Mary Lou Guthrie Stewart. He was a retired salesman. Mr. Stewart was a member of the Covenant Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Audrey Nell Stewart.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Nett Walters Stewart of Forest, and two children,
Melinda Burns and husband Shannon of Covington, La, and Dewayne Stewart of Forest, Ms. He is also survived by a step-son, Jimmy Knott and step daughter Audrey King both of Pearl Ms., Other survivors include a legacy of 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Andrew Burns, Will Boswell, Micah Burns, Christopher King, Matthew White, and Jason King. Honorary Pallbearers were Huey Bell, Felix Parnell, Durwood Hawkins and Corbert Hollingsworth.
