Mr. Bennett Arthur Massey, age 82, a resident of Morton passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019 at Mississippi Care Center in Morton.  His visitation will be held 5pm-8pm Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 10am-10:45am Monday, December 30, 2019 at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held 11am Monday, December 30, 2019 at Morton Church of Christ with burial in Sims Hill Cemetery.  Bro. Ed White and Bro. Will Hammack will officiate the services.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mr. Massey was born in Scott County on May 7, 1937.  He was the owner of Massey Boiler Repair for many years.  Bennett Arthur was a active member of Morton Church of Christ and enjoyed leading the music.  He enjoyed being outdoors deer hunting, fishing and running trotlines.  He and his wife, Mozell loved going camping at Coal Bluff.  Bennett Arthur was a member of Caney Creek Hunting Club and was on the PRVWSD Board of Directors.  He loved his family and was a wonderful grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bennett Ray Massey and Gatha Traxler Massey; siblings, Howard, Willie Ray, and Ward A. Massey and Helen Smith Black.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mozell Massey of Morton; children, Ray Massey (Jackie) of Clinton, Terri Porter (William) of Morton and Tammie Massey of Morton; grandchildren, Jannie Lynne Hollingshead (Rachel) of GA, Kristen Cherry (Will) of Brandon and Emma Grace Thomas of Morton; great grandchildren, Camilla & Connalie Cherry; siblings, Grace Garrard of Starkville, Gaines Massey (Linda) of Brandon and Joyce Lindsey of Morton; special friend, Kent Pickett; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Mike Massey, James Massey, Steve Massey, Jeff Massey, Steven Crotwell and James Massey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Garland, Gene Dorman and Kent Pickett.
