Benny N. Woods, age 75, a resident of the Antioch Community, went to be with his Lord on Thurs. April 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family. A private family funeral service will be held with Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS handling arrangements. Rev Tim Myers will officiate. Pallbearers are Luke Brown, Keith Brown, Charlie Brown, Joe Grantham, Mitch Collins and Terry Woods. Honorary Pallbearers are Pat Lewis, George Letchworth, Larry Walker and Harry Anderson.

Mr. Woods was born in Simpson County to the late Belle and Dent Woods on Aug. 2, 1944. He attended Puckett High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army where he rose to the rank of E5. He served in Vietnam for 19 months. Mr. Woods worked for O'Neal Steel Company for 25 years. He was a faithful member of Christ Congregational Church in Johns, MS. Mr. Woods was also a deacon and member of several church committees. Benny loved the Lord and going to church. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed the outdoors. Benny was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Benny is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vetrice Winstead Woods; son, Benny Neal Woods II; grandchildren, Justin Neal Woods (Maggie), Robert Kyle Woods (Ashley), Clayton Lane Woods, Cody Garrett Woods and Taylor Maria Woods; 6 great grandchildren who were the light of his life; sister, Margaret Collins (Wally); two brothers, Larry Woods (Jan), Mark Woods and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is also preceded in death by his son, Jeffery “Jay” Woods and a brother, Don Woods.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Congregational Church in Puckett, MS.
