Mrs. Gaskin was born December 2, 1907, in Homewood to the late Jim and Ermma Boyles. She lived her entire life between Homewood and Burns. She was a member of the Burns United Methodist Church where she was the oldest surviving member of the church. She loved sharing her Jesus with all she would meet. She was a loving homemaker and a loving Granny. She was "Granny" to all who knew her.
Granny was so very special to her family and friends. She set the greatest example to all, from being the valedictorian of the Class of 1928, a loving wife for over 70 years, and an outstanding Mom and Granny to her family and so many others.
Our Granny was the richest person you could know. She did not have the material belongings by some people's standards--her riches were in the Lord, the faith she lived, her Bible that she read daily, and the many prayers she prayed for her family, acquaintances, and all those around her. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and shared Him with all to whom came in contact.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard H. Gaskin; three grandchildren; and three brothers-Ethel Boyles, Orbie Boyles, and William Boyles.
Survivors include two children; Rachel (John) Russum of Burns, Willie (Zelda) Gaskin of Homewood,
one brother Clemence Boyles of Houston, Tx
6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
Pallbearers are Cory Dearman, Michael Russum, Doug Russum, Garrett Sawyer, John William Russum, and Richard Russum.
Honorary Pallbearers are Marshall Daigre, Justin Daigre, James Boyles, Dale Boyles, Kevin Gaskin and Keith Wedgeworth.
Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest is in charge of arrangements.
