VISITATION: 5-8 PM SATURDAY AT OTT AND LEE IN BRANDON
Flora Thornton, 90, died Friday , September 27, 2013 at home surrounded by her family.
Visitation is 5-8 pm Saturday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 2 pm Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Scott Walters will officiate.
Flora was a longtime resident of Rankin County and a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church. She served in the United States Navy during World War II. Flora was a proud housewife and mother who took wonderful care of her family. She loved to cook for family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughters, Patrice Buffington (Bruce) of Lena and Wanda Vinson (Philip)
of Brandon; sons, Mike Thorton (Barbara) of Brandon, Brent Thornton (Sharon) of Gallman and Steve Thornton (Angel) of Brandon; sister, Dosha Mullin of Florida and sister-in-law, Lois Hales of Quitman; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Flora was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, L. L. Thornton and 12 brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund.
