Betty Holmes Jones, 74, went to be with her Lord on Friday, December 18, 2015 at Select Medical Hospital in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 5 – 8 pm and again Monday,
December 21, 2015 from 10 am until the 11 am Chapel Service at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.
Betty Holmes was born in West Monroe, Louisiana on February 22, 1941 to the late Elisha Gardner and Doris Christine Carney Holmes. She had been a resident of Pearl, MS since 1961. She had worked for Bell South for 37 years and had had perfect attendance for 29 years. She has worked for Southern Tele Communications for the past 16 years. Her love was her family and her Church. She especially loved southern gospel music. Her passion for life was her love and forgiveness.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Gardner Holmes.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bobby E. Jones of Pearl; two children, Julie Tolby of Pearl and Bobby Jones, Jr. (Christy) of Lena, MS; her brother, James Earl Holmes (Hazel) of Canton, MS; four grandchildren, Christopher Jones, Connie Tolby, Dustin Tolby, and Cassandra Johnson; and five great-grandchildren, Will Bruton, Elisha Bruton, Gracilyn Tolby, Kayla Johnson, and Bella Johnson.
