Betty Rene Quillen

Betty Rene Quillen, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024, at the age of 70.

Mrs. Quillen was born in Brandon, Mississippi on November 20, 1953, to William Dolphus Hutson and Nila Rene Grissom Hutson. The family later moved to Texas, where she met Larry Quillen. After the family moved back to Mississippi, Larry moved as well, and they were married on December 5, 1970.

Mrs. Quillen was a gifted cook and baker, and she enjoyed reading, drawing, art, and collecting nautical themed items. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas, when she would go all out with decorations. As members of Brandon Baptist Church, she was very involved with her children’s church activities, as well as their schooling. She worked in the family business that she owned with her husband, Brandon Radiator, as a secretary. Mrs. Quillen was a loving and caring woman who could be counted on to be honest and straightforward.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William Dolphus Hutson and Nila Rene Grissom Hutson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 53 years, Larry Quillen; children, Gwen Quillen and Larry Quillen, Jr. (Kathryn); grandchildren, Logan and Elizabeth Quillen, Liam Starnes, and Seth Feldmann; brother, William Ray Hutson (Ashley); and her nephew, Nick Harris.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home and again Friday, August 2, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be in the chapel at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Gardens.
