Mrs. Betty Jo Talbert, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the University Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 12:00 pm from the Chapel of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS with Bro. Marty Wilson conducting the services. Visitation services were held on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton. The interment service was held at the Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Florence, MS at 2:00 pm after the Chapel service.
Mrs. Betty Jo was a native of Jackson, MS and was born to her parents, J.C. Tagert and Mrs. Ruby Westbrook Tagert on February 15, 1953. She was Baptist by faith and loved her family and friends. Some of her hobbies were sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing rummy and bingo. She loved her puppy dog named Precious. She loved all of her six grandchildren very much and it was said that she loved a good argument because of the fiery-spirit that she had within her.
Mrs. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen “Kat” Jones, and her parents, J.C. and Ruby Tagert.
She is survived by her husband, William Talbert; her three children, daughter Stephanie Prewitt (Joseph) of Florence, daughter Kimberly Edmond (Wayne) of Richland, and son William C. Talbert of Florence; her sister Shirley Long of Florence; brothers Jessie Tagert of Brandon, Steve Tagert of Clinton, and Robert Tagert of Richland, MS.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard Herrod, Pellom Talbert, Ricky Shoemaker, Wesley Tagert, Shane Jolly, Tony Stinson, Shannon Herrod.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton, MS.
