Betty “Mama Jean” Everett Cooperville Betty Jean Everett, age 84, a resident of the Cooperville Community passed away on Friday, May 27, 2016 at her residence. Visitation was held 2-8pm Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services were held 10am Monday, May 30, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Cooperville Baptist Cemetery. Bro. Laverne Summerlin and Bro. Frank Edmondson officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Mrs. Everett was born in Scott County on March 15, 1932. She loved working in her yard growing her flowers and growing vegetables in her garden. Betty Jean loved her children, grandchildren and great grands and her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Everett; parents, Robert Ottee Harrison and Warrine Stokes Harrison; grandchild, Allison Lindsey Chesnut and son-in-law, Jimmy Chesnut. She is survived by her children, Laura Chesnut of Morton, Freda Sherman (Rusty) of Mendenhall and Jerry Everett (Renee) of Cooperville;3 sisters, Juanita Gray (Allen) of Yazoo City, Inez Hammack of Long Beach and Vermell Windham of Homewood; 2 brothers, Robert Harrison (Melvie) of Waynesboro and Bobby Harrison (Janie) of Morton; 6 grandchildren, Neal Chesnut, Lynn Chesnut, Krista Franklin (Sean), Brittney McCurdy (Ben), Alicia Brewer and Brandi Batton; 11 great grandchildren, Anna Claire Chesnut, Robert Lynn Chesnut, GemmaLynne Franklin, Callan Franklin, Hallie McCurdy, Hagen McCurdy, Kylee Brewer, Alli Brewer, Maddi Brewer, Ian Batton and Aaron Batton; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A special thank you to caregiver, Brandi Harvey. Pallbearers were Neal Chesnut, Lynn Chesnut, Ben McCurdy, Sean Franklin, Ian Batton and Tony Denton. Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Batton, Hagen McCurdy, Callan Franklin and Robert Lynn Chesnut.
