Betty Sue Fowler Martin, 67, a resident of Carthage died Monday, September 2, 2013 at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest.
Funeral services were held 10 am Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest with burial in the Damascus Cemetery in Sebastopol, MS. Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 04, 2013 from 4 pm until 9 pm and on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 8 am until 10 am at the funeral home. Rev. Andy Boles and Rev. Paul Sistrunk officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Martin was a native of Sebastopol, MS. She was the daughter of Roy Monk and Dorothy Shaw Monk. She was married to James T. Martin. Mrs. Martin worked for La-Z-Boy in Newton, MS before she became disabled. She attended the Clifton Baptist Church in Forest. She loved her family and spending time with them brought great joy to her life. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her sons, Troy DeWayne Fowler and Thomas Michael Fowler, parents, Roy Monk and Dorothy Shaw Monk.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her daughters, Lena Fowler of Lawrence, MS and Memory Windham of Long Beach, MS; sisters, Ida Mae Shuler of Forest, MS, Liza Reid of Sebastopol, MS, Linda Thornsberry of Walnut Grove, MS, Margie Sistrunk and her husband Paul of Sebastopol, MS and Mary M. Norwood of Sebastopol, MS; brothers, Moses Monk of Sebastopol, MS and Bobby Monk and his wife Sue of Sebastopol, MS; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
