Bill J. Humphries, 87, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Peachtree Village in Brandon. Services are 4 pm Wednesday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial in Brandon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 5-7 pm Tuesday and 3 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Bernard Nail will officiate.
Mr. Humphries was a native of Winston County and a longtime resident of Brandon. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University and a WWII Army Veteran. Mr. Humphries owned and operated Humphries Hardware for many years in Brandon. He was a member of Brandon Baptist Church.
His wife, Kathryn Humphries and son, Tommy Tabb preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Babs Whitfield and husband, Davis of Brandon and Beth Humphries Outzen of Birmingham; brother, Thad Humphries of West Helena, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren, Susan Low Alford, Katy Low Mangin, Paul Edward Pride, Elizabeth Outzen, Anna Outzen and Thomas Outzen.
