Billy John “Bill” Purvis, 90, died Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville, MS. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 9 am until the 11 am Chapel Service at Ott & Lee Funeral
Home in Richland, MS. Burial will follow in the Florence Cemetery. Rev. Hobson Toney and Pat Matthews will Officiate. Pallbearers will be Milton Smith, Ronnie Means, Robert Means, Curtis Smith, Paul Bryant and Teodoro Gomez.
Bill was born May 5, 1924 to the late Ellis and Cora Purvis in Puckett, MS. He was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the U. S. Army. He was retired from the electrical department at the VA Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Florence, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eloise Smith Purvis; and two sisters, Trink Hunter and Alice Lovitt.
Survivors include a son, Phil Purvis (Sandra) of Booneville, MS and a grandson, Bradley Purvis of Birmingham, AL.
