Mrs. Billie McNeece Gunn, a resident of the Lena community, died Sunday, November 3rd at her home in Lena, Ms. where she was surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 13, 1933, in rural Leake County Ms., Billie graduated from Madden High School and went on to receive a Bachelors's degree in education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1958. She was honored to be able to teach school in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Mississippi for 25 years where she met so many friends that she adored. After retirement, she loved being able to attend her small Methodist church in Lena, Ms. and socializing with the community and with her friends.
Billie loved to cook, travel, but mostly spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She has been a wonderful role model for each. She was a true example of what a mother and grandmother should be.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Eric M. Gunn, her son, Gary M Gunn, Hattiesburg, Ms., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chris McNeece, Carthage, Ms., and her brother, Jerry W McNeece, Carthage, Ms.
She is survived by Wanda Gunn Clark, her daughter of Petal, Ms, Steven Eric Gunn, her son, of Lena Ms, and Jelinda Crawford (Eddie), her daughter of Carthage, Ms. She has 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren whom she dearly cherished.
Funeral Services will begin at 11am Tuesday, November 5, 2019, at the Lena United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery near Edinburg. Visitation will also be held from 10am-11am at the Lena United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Ott and Lee Funeral Home of Forest, Ms.
