Billy Ray Brown, 77, passed away Thurs. July 11, 2013 at his home in Cato, MS. Visitation will be held Fri. July 12, 2013 from 5pm.-8pm. and Sat. July 13, 2013 from 10am.-10:45am. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am. Sat. July 13, 2013 at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Ross Cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born on Jan. 18, 1936 in Simpson County and has been a long time resident of Cato, MS. He graduated from Puckett High School in 1955 and served in Rankin County as a deputy, a constable and was also a Justice Court Judge for over 30 years retiring in June 2005.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Winstead Brown; his children, Keith Ray Brown (Patricia), Luke Brown, and Charlie Brown (Melissa); guardian children, Lisa Grantham, Tina Grantham Vanderford (Charles), and Joe Grantham (Missy); his grandchildren, Jennifer Brown, Jennifer Walley, Deidre Brown, Kristi Walley, William Brown, Michael Brown, Morgan Brown, Lacey Brown, Jake Vanderford, Rebecca Banderford, Chris Grantham, Shelby Grantham and Alyssa Grantham. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Paxton Bullard, Hayden Bullard, Gracie Bullard, MayGen Puckett and BrayDen Puckett.
Mr. Brown is preceded in death by his parents, Luther W. Brown and Lillie Jane Welch Brown; his siblings, Etta Brown McLendon, Hilton Brown, Belle Brown Woods and Wilda Hazel Brown Grantham.
